Small Poems, Big Ideas

There is emotional dust
Covering the memories of you
No matter how hard I try
I cannot remove the residue

If I cried in front of you
You would get drunk off my tears
Each tear is 100 proof
And everclear

Desiring
Once attained
Changed

Samantha, I posted a reply to your question online but was slow about doing so...sorry!! Here's what I posted at my own blog:

I'm no expert (understatement!!!) but my understanding of copyright law is that as soon as you create something original it is automatically copyrighted even if you don't formally file papers. However, people steal stuff from online all the time of course. If someone stole one of your poems and published it as their own, technically you would have the law on your side, but practically speaking you'd have to be willing to pay the $$ to pursue it and be able to prove that they were taking away potential income from you - that you were going to do something more with those poems than just post them on the internet.
